Original artwork description:

Artwork in figurative expressionist style inspired by 'The Angel of Fire', an opera written between 1919 and 1926 by Sergei Prokof'ev. The great Russian composer, conductor and pianist was inspired by the blasphemous novel by the Russian poet Valery Brjusov to create a visionary work, immersed in the climate of mystical esotericism so prevalent in the Russian avant-garde of the early 20th century, which is translated into the composer's sometimes grotesque, sometimes hallucinatory language. A sulfurous hallucination amid hysteria, demons and exorcisms set in the bowels of a crypt for a rare gem of twentieth-century theater. Emblematic is the conflict between superstition and rationality that lacerates Renata, the young woman possessed by desire for the angel of fire/demon, who lives and dies as a martyr. Hers is a spectacular and visionary nightmare that allows us to explore the parallel universe of dreams, the dark world of the mind haunted by ghosts.
