Original artwork description
“QUINTESSENCES” COLLECTION
“Quintessences is a collection of visual chapters inspired by the places that have shaped who I am.
The central silhouette of a woman, containing a hummingbird, becomes a vessel of an inner universe where light,
lemons, and fragmented cities coexist with memory and emotion.
The work is rooted in a nomadic condition shaped by immigrations: the ongoing negotiation between integrating into
new cultures while preserving one’s own, and the simultaneous search for belonging, ancestry, and emotional origin. It
reflects the tension of being both included and rejected by the places one inhabits, and the quiet persistence of
building identity across shifting geographies. Knowing one’s roots and letting them grown in another soil, making the
whole World a home.
Every culture has found its own way to speak with darkness. In Mallorca, they dance with it.
During Sant Antoni, demons emerge not to spread fear, but to remind us that every human being carries a shadow within. Fire does not destroy it—it illuminates it.
This painting captures the quintessence of that ritual: the moment when fear transforms into celebration, and the demon ceases to be an enemy, becoming instead a witness to our humanity.
