Spindly Birches (2025) Original Oil Painting by Joanna Farrow

I love silver birches and they find their way into so many of my paintings and drawings. I particularly like the composition in this painting and the sense of space around the birches, growing in spindly clusters on the Ashdown forest. The warm palette is accentuated by bursts of vivid bronze and deep vibrant yellow. It's painted on good quality, thick paper and the edges are deckled (torn) rather than clean cut so the painting can be mounted on a complimentary background within a frame, or more traditionally with a mountboard border.
