There are moments when the world simply becomes too close. Its voices, its plans, its petty, urgent matters surround us, vivid and insistent, while her mind has already slipped away unnoticed. The journey has already begun somewhere in a quieter corner of her thoughts.
Maybe she’s recalling a terrace by the sea, the last rays of light on a hotel balcony, a city where the champagne was chilled and no one asked what tomorrow would bring. Or maybe she’s imagining a place she’s never seen. It doesn’t matter. Some places are all the more alluring precisely because they can’t be found on a map.
Circles and lines float around her, like fragments of conversations and memories. She neither resists them nor follows them. She simply allows her thoughts a small luxury to drift wherever they please. Her body remains here. But the rest of her is “somewhere else.”
