Silent Ties (2025) Original Ink Drawing by Nicol Vacaru

Silent Ties is an original black ink drawing on paper featuring two human profiles facing in opposite directions, connected through layered, flowing brush movements.

I created the figures through broad curved gestures rather than fixed outlines. Although the two faces turn away from one another, the same lines continue around and through both forms, visually holding them together.

I was interested in the idea that distance does not always mean disconnection. Some relationships remain present even when two people are moving in different directions.

The contrast between dense black marks and untouched paper keeps the composition bold, minimal and expressive.
