Shearwater
The cosy amber sky,
Light filtering through the trees,
Tawny brown, charcoal black and silvery grey shades,
Calming and beautiful.
Special Shearwater lake.
Words and thoughts, of a place that I have enjoyed since a young child. Set in the Longleat Estate in Wiltshire this is the largest lake in this part of Wiltshire and Dorset. I love it in winter as it’s quieter and far more atmospheric.
I created this original watercolour recently for a series of short art demonstrations for my instagram, Facebook and YouTube channel.
Using a wet on wet technique I embraced the extra rough textured watercolour paper bockingford 425 gsm 200 lb. I used Chinese brushes made of goats hair.
