Original artwork description:

Dramatic weather changes are always guaranteed to afford the most interesting lighting effects across the landscape. Fell walking in the lake district brings such wonderful opportunities : the wind picked up and the clouds suddenly appear to scatter across the sky in between bright patches of sun that picked up the autumnal colours on the lake side. The drama of the light was intensified by the deep dark tones of the fells in the distance.

I simply had to stop and do some quick pencil sketches and make comprehensive colour notes to jog my memory as to how the clouds were speeding overhead. My aim was to capture the play of light which is so fleeting in an oil painting.

On returning to the studio I worked on the composition and started to produce the final artwork. It certainly lifts one's mood to see the beauty of light in nature.

Scudding Clouds is a framed original oil painting created and painted by myself. The back of the artwork is signed and you will receive a Certificate of Authenticity.
