It wasn’t easy to find a title for this drawing. The picture isn’t particularly large, but it conveys so much more than meets the eye – especially given that polar bears are such an endangered species and, more than almost any other animal, remind us humans of how our planet is suffering.
The title is just as multi-layered. ‘Savoring the light’ describes the scene before us on the surface, but also reminds us that these animals, like polar bears, live in the moment. Despite all the terrible things happening, they are able to enjoy the seemingly small things in life.
That is why we owe it to them to preserve this planet and restore it to a habitat that is worth living in.


Drawn with the highest-quality coloured pencils on acid-free art paper in A5 size (14,8 x 21 cm) in green-gray. It is dispatched in a simple plexiglass frame for protection.
