Same old. (2026) Original Mixed-media Painting by Gio Manveli

I was cycling through Amsterdam when I saw him.
Old man. Green helmet. Big beard. €2000 electric skateboard. He looked exactly like the figures I paint, like he'd walked out of my own canvas onto the street. I had three seconds. Took a secret photo. He has no idea he exists in a painting now.
Inside the work: a McDonald's cup from the street, a Coca-Cola cap from god knows where. Someone's trash, now permanent in an original painting that will hang on a wall for decades. Proud and uncomfortable when I finished. That feeling is still in it.
This is not the painting you match with your sofa. It's the one where every person who enters the room stops and asks: "Wait, what is that?"
The found objects are real and original to this canvas. No print will ever carry them.
