Sail Into The Sun, 180 × 130 cm

"Sail Into The Sun" belongs to my ongoing series of abstract landscape paintings, in which real places, journeys and memories are transformed into colour, light, texture and rhythm.
The painting evokes a quiet view across a lake. A distant forest forms a dark, almost continuous line along the horizon, separating two expansive fields of turquoise and muted blue. Above it is the sky; below, its reflection in the still surface of the water. Their colours echo one another so closely that the distinction between landscape and reflection gradually becomes uncertain.
Touches of earthy brown and subdued rust interrupt the dominant blue-green palette, suggesting changing light and the warmth of a low sun somewhere beyond the visible frame. Rather than describing a particular lake, the painting preserves the sensation of standing before an open landscape: distance, silence, water and an unreachable horizon.
This ambiguity lies at the heart of my series. My method originated from the idea of taking a very narrow fragment of a real landscape and stretching it across the entire canvas. Details disappear, leaving only its fundamental structure — sky, horizon, forest, water and earth transformed into horizontal fields of colour.
The surface is built through numerous layers of acrylic paint, repeatedly covered, muted, scraped and revealed again. From a distance the composition appears calm and minimal; up close, scratches, irregularities and traces of earlier colours expose a much more complex surface.
Music forms another layer of the work. Each title refers to a song connected with a particular journey, memory or emotional state, turning the series into a kind of sonic diary.
Sail Into The Sun is not pure abstraction. It is a landscape remembered differently — reduced to water, light, colour and the feeling of looking towards something beyond the horizon.
