Richard And Hooligans. (2025) Original Oil Painting by Irina Smirnova-Seymour

50 x 50 x 4cm (unframed) / 50 x 50cm (actual image size)

£1,100

This painting is a semi-abstract portrait of my husband created in a playful and expressive manner. The stylized white mustache and surreal shapes give the figure a dreamlike presence, balancing humor with quiet introspection. The two of ours budgerigars, subtly woven into the composition as personal and emotional details.

I used bold contrasts of warm and cool colors to create depth and atmosphere, allowing the portrait to move beyond realism into a more symbolic space. For me, this work is about personality, intimacy, and the way familiar people can become almost mythical through memory and emotion.
