Primavera. First Greenery. (2025) Original Oil Painting by Irina Smirnova-Seymour

“Spring” is a state of awakening, when nature and the human soul begin to breathe as one.
In this work, I wanted to express not the literal image of a season, but the inner feeling of renewal — fragile, restless, and at the same time filled with light.

The figure of the woman seems to emerge from a space of color and wind. Her fiery red hair echoes flashes of young leaves, evening light, and the first warmth of the changing season. Her face almost dissolves into the surrounding atmosphere, because spring transforms not only the world around us, but also our inner emotional landscape.

I used expressive brushstrokes and contrasting tones — violets, greens, turquoise blues, and deep reds — to create the sensation of living movement: air, earth, and light in constant motion. The flowers scattered across the dress suggest the first signs of blooming, while the pale space behind the figure becomes a quiet field of anticipation before nature fully awakens.

For me, this painting is about transition — between sleep and awakening, cold and warmth, solitude and hope. But, you can see here something else of course.
