Mysterious scene (2024) Original Oil Painting by Ljubica Radović

The creation of "Mysterious Scene" was an exploration of stillness, spirituality, and the hidden dialogues between different forms of life and art. This painting came into existence in a very organic way, starting from a fascination with interior spaces that feel frozen in time, yet vibrate with a silent, secret energy.

My main inspiration came from the concept of a sacred corner or a personal sanctuary. I wanted to bring together elements that feel ancient and symbolic: a central, dark, winged statue that commands presence, a softly glowing spiritual icon or portrait in the background, and a gathering of vibrant, colourful birds in the foreground. The birds, painted in lively pastels and blues, seem to have just landed, introducing a sense of fleeting life and movement to an otherwise still, monumental scene.

What makes this artwork truly special is the tension between the heavy, grounded earthy tones of the sculpture and the light, almost ethereal glow of the icon and the birds. It creates a dreamlike narrative where the viewer is left to wonder whether this is a real place, a memory, or a vision.
