Mountain Yogi 120-21 (2021) Original Sculpture by Philippe Buil

With Mountain Yogi 120-21, I explore the connection between the human body, meditation and the natural world. Seen from the back, the figure appears to merge with the silhouette of a mountain, evoking strength, stillness and inner balance.

I created this unique sculpture using my signature metal lace technique, combining steel and bronze. I work directly with molten metal, building the surface drop by drop to create an open, organic texture. The resulting structure is both solid and delicate, allowing light to pass through the metal and revealing subtle contrasts between the dark steel and warm bronze.

The mountain becomes a metaphor for the human spirit: grounded, powerful and reaching toward a state of inner peace. For me, this work is an invitation to slow down, breathe and reconnect with oneself.

This original sculpture is entirely handmade in my studio in France and is signed by the artist.
