Original artwork description
In Lo perdido (2026), I explore memory and absence as spaces where what we believe to be lost can remain transformed through imagination. I present a contemplative figure moving alongside a red fish, a recurring symbol in my work and a representation of what remains connected to us despite the passage of time. I am interested in creating a scene suspended between reality and memory, where the silence of the figure and the presence of the fish establish an open dialogue about loss, distance, and permanence. I work in oil on canvas through a combination of gestural brushstrokes, rich pictorial matter, and areas of greater definition, contrasting the solidity of the figure with a background constructed through layers, marks, and expressive strokes. The tension between the blues and turquoise tones of the space and the intensity of the reds guides the viewer’s eye and reinforces the emotional character of the painting.
