A small girl dances across the water while, in the distance, a nuclear cloud rises against the horizon. The painting brings innocence and threat into the same image: movement, joy and vulnerability set against the possibility of destruction. Little Hope is less a narrative than a question about what we choose to protect — an image of life continuing in the presence of forces capable of ending it.
