Intersecting Souls (2025) Original Ink Drawing by Nicol Vacaru

Intersecting Souls is an original black ink drawing on paper depicting two abstract human profiles that meet and overlap through fluid brushstrokes.

I created the figures without drawing fixed outlines. Instead, the faces appeared gradually as the ink moved across the paper, with some lines separating the two profiles and others connecting them.

I was interested in that moment when two people feel close while still remaining entirely themselves. The overlapping forms create a sense of shared space, while the open white areas keep the composition light and allow each figure to remain distinct.

The contrast between spontaneous ink movement and the simplicity of the paper is central to the work.
