Original artwork description
About the artwork
The Goddess is shown from behind, moving towards the setting sun. Her body is not presented as vulnerable or exposed, but as elemental — connected to the earth, the wind and the landscape surrounding her.
The sun is positioned at the level of her head, appearing simultaneously as a halo and a portal. It becomes a threshold between different states of being, suggesting movement, transformation and the passage from one stage of life into another.
A field of red poppies surrounds the figure. Their presence evokes memory, lineage, belonging and the continuity of life. The Goddess moves forward while remaining connected to what came before, existing somewhere between past, present and future.
The painting is part of my series Maybe I’ve Always Been Here, which explores memory, belonging, non-linear time and the feeling that some places, experiences and connections can exist beyond a single moment.
With its large vertical format and strong central figure, Haloed can work beautifully as an independent statement piece, while also becoming part of a larger collection or exhibition. Its warm golden light and rich red poppies can bring depth, atmosphere and a sense of contemplation to a contemporary interior. The painting is designed to hold attention on its own while leaving space for the viewer to create their own interpretation.
