GUESTS (2022) Original Acrylic Painting by Przemysław Olczak

70 x 100 x 2cm / 70 x 100cm (actual image size)

£2,801.04

Guests come without faces.
Or maybe they come with too many faces to recognize one specific person. They stand next to each other like a random community - silent and yet full of presence. Their heads are clear, almost erased, as if memory had not yet had time to name them. The largest figure in the center is not looking at us.
Her face is empty, but a butterfly perches on this emptiness - a tiny sign of life, transformation, fragility. As if it was there, where there were no faces, that something most important could happen. A butterfly doesn't need words. It is a moment that knows it is about to fly away.
We come as guests to someone else's world, we meet other guests, we exchange glances,
that we can't read and then we leave.
