"Gathered Light" is a contemporary figurative painting exploring the quiet beauty of being together. Four simplified human figures stand within the same luminous space, each defined by a distinct colour while remaining connected through overlapping forms, transparent layers and expressive brushwork.

Warm yellow, orange and red are balanced by deep blue, creating a vibrant atmosphere that feels both intimate and energetic. The figures are anonymous, allowing the viewer to see in them people from their own life — or simply a sense of human connection.

I am interested in the space between abstraction and the recognisable human figure: enough information to suggest a presence, but enough openness for the viewer to complete the meaning.

Painted in acrylic on canvas, the work is built through layered colour and translucent passages that allow the figures and background to visually merge.

"Gathered Light" is part of my "Memory of Light" series, a continuing exploration of human connection, colour and the emotional traces people leave in one another.

A vibrant, contemporary painting about connection, individuality and the light we share.
