Freya is an original figurative painting of a standing woman. Bold, grounded, completely at ease in herself.

I painted her first in white, then returned with warm flesh tones - blush, taupe, the colour of skin in certain light. The clear gesso keeps the warmth of the weave showing through, so the canvas becomes part of her. Skin and linen feel like they belong together - natural ground, natural form.
