  • Biography
Hi! As you can see from my art, I love working with an expressive creative flow when I paint. I want to communicate feeling, and for my work to provoke a response as well as look beautiful. Each of my paintings is unique and every person’s response to it is unique. Art for me forms a connection between people and can awaken deep feelings. The feminine figure, energy and identity inspires me particularly. As I live in the stunning Lake District, I am naturally influenced by the incredible scenery, which is reflected in my abstract/landscape work. I love to work on either canvas or paper with a medium to high grain. The texture and feeling of the material already plays a part in the creative process. Touching the blank canvas sensually connects me to the artwork before it is even manifest. Painting with oil feels luxurious, and the colours and shine are rich. I love to contrast reds with stunning blues that appear in places not planned or obvious. Acrylic paint offers interesting advantages too - the speed at which it dries and its layering ability make for wonderful plays on light and colour. Born in South Africa and having resided for many years in Italy, I now live and work in the Lake District, England, with my husband and two sons.
