Breathlit Veil (2025) Original Ink Drawing by Nicol Vacaru

Breathlit Veil is an original black ink drawing on paper in which a female profile gradually emerges from fluid, overlapping brushstrokes.

The figure seems partly revealed and partly concealed, as if suspended behind a delicate veil of movement. Open areas of paper allow light to pass through the composition, balancing the stronger black gestures and giving the portrait an airy, almost weightless presence.

The work reflects on vulnerability, introspection, and those parts of ourselves that are sensed rather than fully seen. Its restrained monochrome palette and expressive lines give it a quiet yet distinctive presence in a contemporary interior.
