Original artwork description
Bound in Breath is an original black ink drawing on paper featuring two human profiles facing one another through layered, flowing brush movements.
I created the figures through broad curved gestures rather than fixed outlines, allowing the faces to emerge gradually from the movement of the ink.
The space between the two profiles became an important part of the composition. They are very close, yet still separate, creating a sense of intimacy, tension and quiet communication.
The repeated circular marks connect the figures visually while the untouched paper keeps the work open and balanced.
