Blue Portrait (2025) Original Oil Painting by Evi Panteleon

Blue Portrait explores the human face through an expressive language of deep blues, turquoise and layered brushwork. The figure emerges gradually from the surrounding colour, creating a presence that feels both intimate and distant.

Rather than focusing on a conventional likeness, the painting explores emotion, memory and inner presence. Gestural marks and textured layers allow the features to appear and dissolve within the blue surface, creating movement between abstraction and figuration.

Blue is central to the work, not simply as a colour but as an emotional space. Through variations of light and dark, the painting evokes introspection, silence and a sense of psychological depth.

This work forms part of my continuing exploration of the human figure and the expressive possibilities of blue.
