Reflecting back over my creation in Watercolour and observing a private grounds near to where I live in North Dorset.
The clarity of the reflections on that day in January 2018 were wonderful to see and the contrast of the muted earthy tones of the trees -reeds against the blue sky I will never forget.
Created back in the studio in Shaftesbury I remember this scene and wish I was there feeling the warmth of the bright winter sun mixed with coldness in the air.
I used a wet in wet technique for the blue back washes ,then began mixing all three shades together to create the monochrome shades for the trees ,bank and reeds.A dragging technique was used for fine detail and spend ages blending ,applying depth and dragging the paint carefully until I was satisfied. This original watercolour challenged me a lot and I spent a few days painting areas bit by bit which I don’t normally do.
