Dunes, grasses, sea
Almond pink light,
Indigo blues,
Atmospheric,
Casting shadows,
Marks in the sand.

Words and feelings of a special dunescape.
Original expressive watercolour on Saunders Waterford cold pressed watercolour paper.
Signed on the front and back of painting.
My inspiration for this scene is Studland beach on the Dorset coast in Winter.
I love neutral and tonal watercolours . I enjoyed painting the light over the sea using a very pale wash for the background , creating depth, shadows and mark making.
I etched out the grasses with my nail.

Materials used:

Cold pressed watercolour paper Saunders Waterford, Holbein watercolours, filbert brush, sable hair brush, Chinese brush,
