Slowley woods sunset, Exmoor
I reached the top of Monkham hill,
The sky was alive with colours,
Over the ethereal trees,
Intense heat of the day had gone,
A cool refreshing breeze all around me,
Exhilarating and calming.

Words and feelings of my holiday staying in the Brendon hills of the Exmoor national park.
From my inspiration of that special sunset moment over the landscape I used hot pressed watercolour paper Fabriano 300gsm 140lb.
I wet the paper in areas with a Chinese hake and applied the fire colours for the skyline. I used the same colour back washes for the background behind the woodland and heath foreground. There was many different tree shapes so I used lots of different brushes to press and release the patterns. Gradually building the depth in areas of the woods. I used a three colour technique throughout the watercolour painting.
Signed on the front and back of artwork.
Certificate of authenticity.
