This painting is part of my Trees series, where I explore trees not simply as elements of a landscape, but as powerful forms with their own character and presence.
I was drawn to the shapes of the tree trunks and branches, and to the way they create a rhythm across the composition. Instead of depicting the landscape realistically, I simplified and transformed the forms, using bold outlines and vibrant colour to create an almost stained-glass effect.
The purple trees stand against a luminous pink sky, while the shapes of the ground and surrounding vegetation create layers of turquoise, green and blue. The strong lines divide the landscape into flowing shapes, giving the painting a sense of movement and structure.
Through this work, I wanted to capture the feeling of being surrounded by trees while allowing the landscape to become something more imaginative and expressive.
