With A Tear, I wanted to capture a moment of pure emotion: an angelic face where a tear transforms into a botanical bloom, like a breath of life emerging from metal.

The face appears between presence and mystery, combining serene features with a deeply human sensitivity. I use my signature metal lace technique, melting metal drop by drop to create an openwork structure that allows light to pass through.

Steel gives the sculpture its strength, while bronze blossoms into organic, leaf-like forms. This contrast between the solidity of metal and the delicacy of foliage expresses the connection between human emotion and nature. The tear does not simply fall; it becomes a symbol of transformation, resilience, and renewal.

Handcrafted in my studio in France, this original contemporary sculpture explores the beauty of imperfection, the poetry of materials, and the subtle relationship between light and form.

Created and signed by me, Philippe Buil, this unique artwork comes with a certificate of authenticity.
