"A Summer Kept in Light" explores the transformation of landscape through memory, where place becomes inseparable from atmosphere and emotional perception. The composition unfolds less as a geographical location and more as a suspended state of experience — one shaped by light, movement, and the quiet distortion of recollection over time.

The villa emerges from the shoreline with a sense of stillness and permanence, while the sky above remains fluid and unstable, animated by sweeping currents of color and gesture. This contrast between grounded architecture and shifting atmosphere creates a subtle tension throughout the work, suggesting the coexistence of permanence and transience within the same moment.

Constructed through dense layers of oil paint, the surface retains a strong physical presence. Thick impasto passages catch and refract light differently across the canvas, allowing the painting to continuously change depending on distance, angle, and surrounding illumination. The materiality of paint becomes central to the experience of the work, emphasizing sensation over literal description.

Water functions as both reflective space and dissolving boundary, softening the distinction between structure, landscape, and sky.
