2-21-17 study is a medium scale figure study on 200gms paper using mixed media painted with a muted palette contrasting with areas of vibrant color. The use of fluid mediums such as inks, watercolors and acrylics allows for a certain element of chance during the process. Produced quickly using expressive marks and stains. Giving them an ‘imperfect’ or vulnerable feel, which in turn gives the work an exciting vitality and energy. It continues my interest in the presentation and concepts of beauty. We are exposed to countless images of manipulated perfection of the human form. This work is a counter balance to this through the use of uneven surface textures and blotches of paint. Creating an awkward imperfect or flawed beauty.
Artwork signed on the front and includes a certificate of authenticity.
