About Ryan Rice

  • Biography

Creating and working with my hands has always been a passion of mine.  Drawing ever since I can remember, it wasn't till college that I took my first painting class, I was hooked.

    Artist Statement

My artwork can be seen in many of the renowned galleries and museums worldwide-granted you have a computer and internet connection.

My work is a reflection of me, and I consider myself to be funny, witty, smart, opinionated and always unexpected. My work includes both humorous works that incorporate puns and plays with and in the English Language, and in contrast other pieces are images that speak to me in either a matter of fact or an abstract manner.

I enjoy the creative process of making the familiar bizarre and the bizarre familiar.

My work continues to build upon itself where images present themselves in a very clear way. I am able to break down the image such as I do with the puns, and create something that speaks to me and my viewers as a lasting image that has the strength to stand alone and compliments other pieces in the gallery.

I strive to challenge myself every time I pick up a paintbrush or mix colors. It is through this challenge that I hope to intrigue the viewer into taking a closer look, realizing that things aren’t always as they first appear and that every joke is a violation of an expectation, and life’s beauty and humor can be inspiring to all of us.
