About Brandie Adams-Piphus

Biography

Environments existing outside of natural laws or the physical realm is where I want to be, so I illustrate the places I dream of that invoke life and spirit, creating alternate realities where freedom lies. My view is that every woman is beautiful and that beauty emanates when she taps into the joy that is her. I am an analog collagist. I hand cut and glue ephemera including discarded magazines, handmade paper, wallpaper, gift wrap, and archived public domain images to construct surrealistic, immersive scenes. I place women at the center of transition, empowered to create order out of chaos. I use home and nature as spaces of refuge, transformation, memory and possibility. Domestic spaces become portals into other realms, while flowers, foliage, animals and water extend the emotional and spiritual worlds my figures inhabit. Themes of resurrection, renaissance and reclamation run throughout my work. Through layering, juxtaposition, pattern, color and texture, I transform ordinary materials into otherworldly environments. Ultimately, my work explores freedom, joy and self-possession, creating worlds where beauty is discovered, owned and embodied from within. Art Finder is a trusted platform for independent artists, and I believe it will help me obtain more visibility for my work. Currently, I am at home creating constantly, but I need a platform where I can get it out into the public eye. I previously licensed my art through iCanvas and Lumaprints, selling prints to national retail chains, but it wasn't lucrative because I could only retain 10% of profits. I will be able to retain more with Art Finder.
