About Kari Silveira

Biography

I am a Brazilian contemporary watercolour artist based in Malta. My atmospheric paintings explore silence, distance, memory and the quiet tension between vulnerability and movement.

Working primarily on paper, I allow water, pigment and chance to shape landscapes that hover between abstraction and representation. Small figures, boats, paths and distant structures often appear within expansive fields of colour, suggesting solitude, transition and the search for direction.

Before developing my artistic practice, I built a long career as an executive, leadership mentor and founder. I also hold a PhD in Language and Linguistics. My experience with people, words and transformation continues to influence my visual work, although painting gives me access to what cannot always be explained through language.

Originally from Brazil, I lived 9 years in Portugal and now living on the Mediterranean island of Malta, I draw from changing geographies, inner landscapes and the emotional traces left by movement. I create my paintings as places of pause: intimate spaces where uncertainty, beauty and stillness can coexist.
