Where the Light Begins (2026) Original Watercolour by Kari Silveira

Where the Light Begins explores the moment when something luminous appears within an uncertain landscape.

I built the painting through translucent layers of blue, grey, turquoise and muted earth tones. The rounded forms in the distance remain deliberately ambiguous — they may be trees, lights or memories emerging through the atmosphere. In the foreground, a solitary figure in red stands before the vast landscape, introducing a small but insistent human presence.

I was interested in the tension between vulnerability and possibility: the feeling of being surrounded by uncertainty while still recognising a place towards which one might move.

Created in Malta in 2026, this original watercolour reflects my continuing exploration of distance, transition and the quiet search for direction.

The artwork is sold unframed and will be shipped carefully packaged with a signed certificate of authenticity.
