The Mountain Keeps Quiet explores the stillness that emerges when a human presence is placed against something immense and enduring.
A solitary figure stands at the edge of a vast blue landscape, facing a mountain that seems to dissolve into mist. Built through translucent layers of blue, teal and grey, the scene remains suspended between a real place and a distant memory.
The small figure gives scale to the landscape, but also introduces a quiet tension: the mountain offers no answer, no direction, no explanation. It simply remains.
Created in Portugal in 2026, this original watercolour reflects my continuing exploration of solitude, silence and the relationship between small human figures and immense landscapes.
