The Long Shadow (2026) Original Watercolour by Kari Silveira

The Long Shadow explores the emotional weight that a small human presence can carry within an immense, almost empty landscape.

A solitary figure stands near the horizon beneath a vast pale sky. Its elongated shadow crosses the open ground, becoming larger and more prominent than the person who casts it. The restrained composition and muted layers of blue, grey and sand create a landscape suspended between reality and memory.

I was interested in the tension between presence and absence — how the traces we leave behind can sometimes feel greater than our physical place in the world.

Created in Malta in 2026, this original watercolour is part of my continuing exploration of solitude, distance and small human figures within expansive landscapes.

The artwork is sold unframed and will be carefully packaged with a signed certificate of authenticity.
