“Wind Ridge” is an acrylic painting on canvas 76cm wide x 102cms height. The painting is inspired by landscape. The painting takes its initial inspiration from a location of open and wild un- manicured land and seascape. The painting is part of a series related to land, sea and skies. This is a gestural and expressive painting built in dense layers of impasto acrylic paint. In some respects, it is a return to ‘action painting’ where gestural mark making is immediate. The colour and mood of the painting tries to capture the textures and colours of a wild and natural landscape coming to life in early spring. I take inspiration from modern colourists such as Hans Hoffman and abstract expressionist painters such as Franz Kline. The painting is shipped in a robust custom made cardboard crate (same as those used to transport large screens). The painting is bubble wrapped to protect the canvas. Further wrapping is made with corrugated card. A wooden frame is placed inside the cardboard crate to preserve the structural strength of the packaging. Each painting is insured to its sale value.
