Original artwork description
Wild Grace is an expressive contemporary portrait of an African giraffe, exploring the beauty, elegance and quiet character of one of Africa's most distinctive animals.
The giraffe's gentle expression and lowered gaze create a sense of calm, while energetic strokes of orange, yellow, green and blue bring movement and colour to the composition. The contrast between the warm tones of the animal and the darker surrounding areas gives the painting depth and presence.
I wanted to move beyond a traditional representation of wildlife and capture the personality of the giraffe through expressive brushwork and colour. Visible layers of acrylic paint give the surface texture and contribute to the contemporary character of the work.
Wild Grace is an original acrylic painting celebrating African wildlife through colour, emotion and expressive mark-making.
