Not everything on this branch is really there. Some leaves in White Roses are painted thick and textured, catching light from across the room. Others are only shadows — flat, dark shapes with no weight behind them, as if the branch remembers a leaf that already fell.

Natural linen shows through most of the canvas, undisturbed. A single branch moves across it, carrying real leaves in vivid green alongside their own ghosts. Small white roses appear where the branch is busiest, pale and quiet against the darker green around them.

Anastassia Skopp built this the way she builds most of her work — no sketch, the knife finding its own path. What’s unusual here is the doubling: presence and its shadow, painted side by side, neither one explaining the other.
