Every dance begins somewhere. Not with the first step — by the time the first step happens, something has already moved. It begins with a small pulse in the chest, a quiet shift that asks the body to follow. You do not always notice it. But it is there, and once it begins, the rest is only a matter of time.

Where I Forget I is that pulse. The first painting of a triptych, where the rhythm has only just entered the room. The turquoise air is lighter here, the branches more tentative, the flowers fewer. Most of the linen still breathes uncovered — present, patient, waiting. And in the middle of the canvas, almost shy: a soft pink bloom of light. This is the dancing centre of the soul. It will appear in all three paintings, but here it is at the beginning — not yet sure where it is going, only that it must go.
By the second painting, this pink will have moved. By the third, it will have travelled across the body of the series. But for now, it is only beginning to remember it can move at all.

This is the moment before forgetting. The breath taken before the dance starts.
