When the Day Grows Quiet (2026) Original Oil Painting by Ekaterina Orlova

This landscape is devoted to a transitional state of nature just before dusk. Warm light in the sky slowly dissolves into cooler blue and turquoise tones of the water and distant forest, while the reflections soften and the entire landscape seems to become quieter.

I wanted to capture not simply a view, but a brief moment when the atmosphere is already changing: daylight is fading, evening is approaching, yet the last warmth of the sun still remains in the sky and on the surface of the water.

This work reflects my artistic approach, which I describe as Impressionism of Transitional States — an interest in fleeting moments when light, air and color have already begun to change, but have not yet become something else.
