About Ekaterina Orlova

  • Biography
BIOGRAPHY My PATH My name is Ekaterina Orlova. I have been interested in Painting and drawing since my early childhood. My grandfather helped me take my first steps in this direction. He taught me graphics, told me about composition and perspective. He often took me to galleries and museums where we looked at the works of great masters. He also discovered impressionism for me. Then, as a child, the paintings of Monet, Renoir, Gauguin and especially van Gogh made a lasting impression on me. This probably determined my entire future life. At the age of about 12, I went to a children's art school and six months later I started painting with oil paints. After art school, I continued to study independently, using books and video lessons. I tried myself in a variety of genres: I continued to paint with oil paints, paint with watercolors, draw illustrations, comics, graphics, miniatures. The need to return to painting training came to me at the age of 22. By that time I had more or less developed my impressionistic style, and I wanted to master a professional painting technique. Studying in Moscow State Art Institute named after Surikov opened up a whole new world for me: I met many teachers-professional artists. Watching them work, listening to their advice and comments, I made a lot of progress in my painting. After studying classical painting at the Institute, in order not to lose my own style of painting, I moved to the workshop of the impressionist artist Georgy Kara-Murza. Now I am independently developing further as an artist. Since 2018, I have decided to fully devote myself to painting and start my career as a professional artist. I continue to experiment further in my work. My paintings are sold all over the world, and I paint a lot to order. ABOUT MY STYLE. I believe that painting can be truly "impressive" if the artist himself experiences the whole range of emotions. I go hiking, in the mountains, skiing, skydiving – all this gives me a sense of freedom, a surge of emotions, an impulse, a sense of beauty and fleetness of the moment. And these emotions and all these experienced feelings that I give to my audience through my paintings. That's why I'm an impressionist.
