Weightless captures a moment of stillness over the sea. Viewed from above, small boats are scattered across deep blue water and luminous turquoise shallows. Without a visible horizon, the sea becomes an open, almost limitless space in which the boats seem to float freely, detached from the usual sense of scale and direction.
I am interested in how a change in perspective can transform a familiar landscape into something less defined. In this painting, the meeting of dark and light water creates an irregular boundary that can be read as a coastline, a shadow or an abstract shape. The longer you look, the less certain the space becomes.
This work belongs to my ongoing Between Realities series, in which I explore the relationship between the physical world and our perception of it. Through the interplay of blue and turquoise, simplified forms and spatial ambiguity, I seek to create paintings that invite a slower, more attentive way of looking.
