Waxwing (2026) Original Oil Painting by Tatyana Barinova

A study of softness, stillness, and understated beauty. The painting treats the waxwing almost like a small jewel, allowing colour and silhouette to carry its presence.
A waxwing rests quietly against a pale, almost atmospheric background. Its warm coral breast, cool blue‑grey plumage, and dark markings are suggested with restrained, painterly strokes. The bird seems suspended in a moment of stillness — delicate, watchful, and completely at ease
Four small paintings about the birds that briefly enter our everyday lives — little visitors who arrive unexpectedly, brighten a quiet moment and sometimes become familiar enough to be missed. The series is called “Little Guests,” and the waxwing is a rare and beautiful guest, almost a gift.
