£685.24
Original artwork description
This painting is called Valkenboskade (minimum) to distinguish it from its twin Valkenboskade (maximum). Valkenboskade is a long, tree-lined, grassy-banked canal that runs through our neighbourhood in The Hague, and is quite a pleasant place to walk on a nice sunny day, of which there have been many recently. Valkenboskade(maximum) was born first -obviously! - by about two weeks, and is more robust than her younger brother. You can clearly see Valkenboskade (minimum) is has less meat on his bones, barely half of him is filled in. Despite this, bizarrely, he still took longer to create than his sister. There is always a platoon of cars and bikes parked along Valkenboskade but since most form of transport are essentially ugly - not to mention fiddly to draw and paint - Valkenboskade (minimum) decided to depict cars, minimally, as dashboard warning icons, and bikes, minimally, as giant chains. Nice. Coming soon: Valkenboskade(reflection)!
