Universe III explores the image of the Universe as a space of genesis, movement, and continuous transformation. The work emerges through a process in which colour is released into water, while the pigment, guided by fluidity, gravity, and surface tension, creates its own configuration. The paper passes through this chromatic field and captures, for a brief moment, a form that, like the Universe itself, is never entirely stable.
Within this technique lies an encounter between the artist’s intention and chance. The artist initiates the process, choosing the colours, their density, and the moment of transfer, yet cannot fully control the movement of the particles. The final image thus becomes the result of a negotiation between will and accident, between gesture and the invisible forces that organise matter.
Universe III may be viewed as an imaginary map of a cosmos in the process of becoming: nebulae, concentrations of matter, bursts of light, interstitial spaces, and forms that seem to emerge from a primordial field. It is not a representation of an observable Universe, but an intuitive interpretation of the processes through which chaos can generate order.
Water becomes more than a technical medium — it is the primordial space, the matrix in which chromatic matter encounters itself, separates, and reorganises. Colour, temporarily released from the direct control of the hand, acquires a certain autonomy and becomes almost a form of “living matter.”
The work continues an exploration of the relationship between matter, energy, time, and transformation, proposing an image in which the macrocosm and the microcosm reflect one another. The outer Universe may simultaneously be read as an inner universe: a configuration of memories, emotions, tensions, and possibilities in a state of perpetual becoming.
In Universe III, painting does not depict the Universe; rather, it attempts to reproduce the principle of its formation: emergence, expansion, interference, dissolution, and recomposition. Each trace of colour becomes a particle, each interference — an encounter, and each area of void — a space of possibility.
The final image is therefore a moment suspended within a continuous process, a temporary form of a universe that continues to transform beyond the boundaries of the paper.
