Umbelliferous seed heads are something I paint many times, either as a specific study or equally their heads can also be seen often popping up in many of my paintings!
The beautiful spiky design of them seems to lend itself to interpretation in many different ways and here I have used a theme taken from one of my watercolour paintings of the seed heads large on a semi-abstract background with many textures incorporated.
I have used different texture mediums, inks and acrylic paints spattered dripped and scratched into (scraffito) to give the painting lots of interest and different qualities in the painting. There are pinks, magenta, black and white with touches of yellow and grey. The painting is done on a deep edged box canvas with the edges painted white, so no need to frame.
A beautiful, contemporary and dramatic decorative addition to any room scheme!
