Twisted is an original oil painting on canvas, 91 x 122 cm, by London artist Ryan Louder — a figure curled into a compressed posture, the only lit form in a near-black void.

The body is rendered in warm pink-white impasto, knees drawn up, one arm crossing the torso, the other raised to the head. Features are readable but carry a quality of interrupted resolution — flesh tones applied in strokes that map structure without smoothing it. A fragment of colour crosses a lower limb. The dark, textured ground offers no spatial information: the figure sits suspended, with no surface beneath and no wall behind. The posture reads as self-containment under pressure.

This is part of a body of work shaped by my neurological condition, narcolepsy with REM intrusion hallucinations, clinically confirmed at Guy's Hospital in London. Phantom figures, boundary dissolution and self-luminous forms are hallucinatory markers — recordings of what REM intrusion looks like, not deliberate technique. The imagery emerges from neurological experience, not metaphor.

I have painted over 2,000 works and sold more than 1,000 originals. The canvas is unstretched and comes rolled, ready for your framer. Carefully packaged and dispatched by tracked courier — message me with any questions.
